Ray Lewis wishes Ravens' Joe Flacco was more like Ray Lewis

It’s been a few months since we’ve seen Ray Lewis say anything to get himself in the headlines, but he found a way on Thursday.

As a guest on Fox Sports 1’s “Speak for Yourself,” Lewis was asked why Flacco has been so inconsistent, and Lewis said Flacco is gifted but not really passionate about the game.

“There’s something called being passionate about what you do. Really passionate about really what you do. And me being around it … Gifted? Absolutely. Passionate about what he do? I’ve never seen that. I don’t know what that looks like,” Lewis said.

The retired linebacker went on to say that Flacco isolates himself on the bench after good plays and bad plays, and believes that more emotional Ravens players like Steve Smith Sr. should try to bring more fire out of Flacco.

While Lewis does mention that he and Flacco won a Super Bowl as teammates, it’s hard to recall him complaining much about Flacco’s lack of passion in 2012, when Flacco had a stellar postseason – he threw 11 touchdowns and no picks in four games – to lead Baltimore to a win in Super Bowl XLVII, the last game of Lewis’ career.
