Rangers put Harrison on DL

The Texas Rangers placed starting pitcher Matt Harrison on the 15-day disabled list with a lower-back strain and recalled right-hander Justin Grimm from triple-A on Wednesday.

The move with Harrison is retroactive to Saturday. He has experienced back soreness for the past two weeks.

Harrison was 0-2 with an 8.44 ERA to start the season, allowing five earned runs in losses to the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels.

Grimm, who will start the Rangers' series opener on Thursday night in Seattle, won his only start for triple-A Round Rock this season, allowing one run in 5 2/3 innings. He started twice for the Rangers last year.
