Rangers' Hamilton left out of Thursday's starting lineup

Texas Rangers center fielder Josh Hamilton was left out of the starting lineup for Thursday's game against Cleveland because of a sore left knee, but Adrian Beltre was in the lineup as the designated hitter.

Manager Ron Washington had planned to rest Beltre, who left Wednesday's game with a left shoulder strain. But Beltre was able to talk his way back into the lineup.

"It was sore last night, but it feels okay now," Beltre told the Dallas Morning News. "Why should I rest? I had some rest last night."

An MRI on Beltre revealed inflammation in the shoulder but no structural damage.

Hamilton received an injection of an anti-inflammatory in his left knee after Wednesday's game, and he may play on Friday, according to the Morning News.

Infielder Mike Olt will be out for 10 to 14 days because of plantar fasciitis in the right foot.
