If you are a fan of the loudish, often over the top color schemes that Color Rush brings to your team, you’ll love December. That’s the date the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks clash in colors meant to either awaken or abuse your senses.

You can decide which.

On Tuesday, the National Football League released its schedule and color palate for the teams involved. As soon as tomorrow, you can watch what the league and Nike have in store for its fans when the Jets and Bills light up your TV screen and your retinas.

As for the hometown Rams, you’ll have to wait until December 15th. Surprisingly, the color combo that Los Angeles will wear is pretty tame, versus the all yellow look from last season that was absolutely hideous. This season, the Rams are in white pants and white jerseys with minimal gold and navy trim.

However, the same can’t be said for the Seattle Seahawks. Paul Lukas of ESPN’s Uni Watch describes it this way: “The Seahawks were made for Color Rush, and their green superhero costume is the fullest expression of this program’s values: loud, brash, slick, youth-oriented.”

Please, their awful.

This might be Nike’s best work at color exploitation outside of Eugene, Oregon where the Ducks are routinely in uniforms that border on garish. But that’s the shtick over at Nike; go big or go bigger. With Color Rush it’s the same thing.

For the record, I’m no fan of Nike. What they routinely do to uniform and program colors are abhorent. But in this age of the “look at me” athlete, it works.

In a league full of them, it absolutely flourishes.
