QB Walsh named Oklahoma State starter

Oklahoma State sophomore quarterback J.W. Walsh, who came off the bench last weekend to lead the Cowboys to a win over Mississippi State, will start this week.

"I think he just brought a spark to our team," Cowboys coach Mike Gundy said Monday. "I felt like there was a lift when he came in, for whatever reason."

Senior Clint Chelf, who started the season opener against the Bulldogs, will not be rotated in at the position Saturday against Texas-San Antonio. He was pulled after two ineffective possessions, though Gundy said he always planned to insert Walsh into the lineup at some point Saturday.

Walsh played the rest of the game, finishing with 125 yards rushing and 135 yards passing in a 21-3 victory.

Chelf went 3-for-6 for 11 yards.
