Press Box: Snowmobiler dies after injuries in X Games
Snowmobiler Caleb Moore, a daredevil rider who was hurt in a crash at the Winter X Games in Colorado, died Thursday as a result of his injuries. He was 25.
Family spokeswoman Chelsea Lawson released a statement announcing Moore's death. The family didn't release any other details.
The first death in the 17-year history of the Winter X Games, Moore suffered a concussion Jan. 24 during the snowmobile freestyle final at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, Co. Bleeding on his heart was later discovered and he was airlifted to another hospital.
On Sunday, a family spokesperson announced that he'd suffered a "brain complication."
The freestyle competition involves riders navigating 450-pound snowmobiles over multiple jumps in 75 seconds. Moore attempted a backflip when his skis of his 450-pound snowmobile caught the top of the landing area, sending him over the handlebars. He landed face down, and his snowmobile rolled over him.
He stayed on the ground for a while, but eventually walked off with help.

International soccer star David Beckham joined Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday on a five-month contract and has vowed to donate his salary to a children's charity.
Beckham announced the deal after passing a physical in Paris. He chose France after numerous offers from around the world. PSG plays in the Champions League knockout stage and the 37-year-old is now poised to win a league title in a fourth country.
No details were provided regarding how much Beckham will earn or which charity will receive the money.
Beckham is also familiar with PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti and director Leonardo from their time at AC Milan.
Beckham received 12 formal offers, including clubs in South America, North America, South Africa, Russia, China and the Middle East. He ended his six-year stint with Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy in December.
