Patriots re-sign WR Collie

Wide receiver Austin Collie re-signed with the New England Patriots.

Collie spent five weeks with the Patriots before he was released in November because of a knee injury.

Collie, 28, played in four games and caught three passes for 34 yards.

Since posting three straight 50-catch seasons with the Indianapolis Colts from 2009-11, Collie has played five games in the past two seasons.

He has incurred three documented concussions and a knee injury but said despite his age (27), he was willing to sign a waiver to play in the NFL, even if it meant he was risking permanent brain injury.
