Patriots Earn Close 17-16 Victory Over Jets
The Patriots topped the Jets, 17-16, at MetLife Stadium.
Tom Brady finished with 182 yards on 23 for 35 passing, one touchdown and one pick. In comparison, Geno Smith went 17 of 27 with 210 yards passing, one touchdown and one pick for the Jets.
Shane Vereen rushed for 38 yards on six carries in addition to one reception for 12 yards. Rob Gronkowski caught six passes for 31 yards with a touchdown.
The New England defense gave up 116 yards rushing and 210 passing. They got to Smith for two sacks.
Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland put up 43 receiving yards and one touchdown.
The Patriots host the Bills (8-6) next week while the Jets head to Miami Gardens to face the Dolphins (7-7).
