Padres extend Class AAA deal with Tuscon

The San Diego Padres extended their player development contract with Class AAA Tucson through 2014, the team announced Friday.

"We are glad to continue our relationship with Tucson," Padres executive vice president and general manager Josh Byrnes said. "Triple-A is an important level in the development of a player and we value Tucson as a critical part of our developmental process."

Tucson just finished its second season as the Padres Class AAA affiliate.

"The Padres have been fortunate to have had a number of talented players come through Tucson over the last two years," Padres vice president of player development and international scouting Randy Smith said. "We look forward to continuing to develop talented players to help the Major League team."
