Padres claim pitcher, send Marquis to DL

The Padres placed starting pitcher Jason Marquis on the 15-day disabled list and claimed right-hander Thad Weber off waivers from the Tigers.

Marquis has a fractured left wrist. He'll be replaced on the roster by Brad Boxberger, who was recalled from Triple-A Tucson.

Weber was assigned to Tucson and Neil Wagner, a right-handed pitcher, was designated for assignment.

The Padres also announced infielder Jason Bartlett cleared unconditional release waivers and is a free agent.
