Ottawa's Greening joins Danish team

With the NHL season still on hold because of the contract dispute between the league and the players union, NHL players continue to find work overseas.

Ottawa's Colin Greening has reached an agreement to play for Aalborg of the AL-Bank Ligaen during the work stoppage. It makes him the first NHL player to join the top flight of Danish hockey.

Greening, 26, had a career-high 37 points, including 17 goals, for the Senators last season.

Also Winnipeg Jets defenseman Tobias Enstrom has joined EC Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Hockey League.

Finally, after playing briefly for a team in the German second division, Wayne Simmonds of the Philadelphia Flyers and Chris Stewart of the St. Louis Blues have left the Crimmitschau Ice Pirates and will join Czech Extraliga team HC Liberec, according to USA Today.
