Orioles OF Markakis heads to DL

The Baltimore announced Friday that they have placed outfielder Nick Markakis on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 30, with a right hamate bone fracture and selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Bill Hall from Class AAA Norfolk.

The timetable for Markakis' return is two to four weeks.

Markakis is batting .256 with eight home runs and 26 RBI in 50 games for the Orioles this season. This is his first career trip to the DL.

Hall batted .286 in a six-game stint with Baltimore from May 12-25. Hall batted .221 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 21 games over two stints with Norfolk.

To make room for Hall on the 40-man roster, second baseman Brian Roberts (post-concussion symptoms) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
