Rory McIlroy has joined Nike, and he will be paid accordingly. Nike officially announced its partnership with the 23-year-old McIlroy on Monday in Abu Dhabi, saying the world's No. 1-ranked golfer has signed a multiyear deal with the company and that the Nike Swoosh will be on his clubs, balls, footwear, glove, apparel, headwear and accessories. McIroy had the Swoosh logo all over his apparel on Monday. Financial terms of the deal were not released, but multiple media outlets have reported that it is worth between $200 million to $250 million over 10 years. A deal that pays him $250 million would be the most lucrative endorsement deal ever for a golfer. "I've always associated Nike with the best," McIlroy said at the announcement. "Growing up, whether it was golf, tennis, football, the best athletes were with Nike. I've watched Tiger Woods make history with Nike, and Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal. Now I want to create my own history with Nike. McIlroy and Tiger Woods, another Nike-sponsored golfer, will make their season debuts this week at the Abu Dhabi Championship. McIlroy's first TV spot will be released Wednesday. A clip of that spot was shown on Monday, and it features McIlroy and Woods trading verbal shots as well as golf shots with Nike's new driver.
