Oct 1 (The Sports Xchange) - Detroit Red Wings defenseman Danny DeKeyser returned home after suffering a lower left leg injury during the third period of Wednesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Pittsburgh. Doctors examined DeKeyser, who also underwent additional tests on Thursday afternoon to help determine the extent of the injury. - - The Minnesota Wild claimed left wing Chris Porter off waivers from Philadelphia. Porter was one of the Flyers' final cuts. He had considered signing with Minnesota in the offseason before signing a deal with Philadelphia. - - The Anaheim Ducks recalled right wing Brian McGrattan from San Diego of the American Hockey League and assigned four players to the same club. Sent to San Diego were left wingers Max Friberg and Ondrej Kase, center Michael Sgarbossa and goaltender Matt Hackett. - - The St. Louis Blues assigned four players to their American Hockey League affiliate to reduce their training camp roster to 29. The club sent forwards Ivan Barbashev and Jeremy Welsh and defensemen Andre Benoit and Peter Harrold to the Chicago Wolves. - - The Boston Bruins assigned left wingers Anton Blidh and Brandon DeFazio, defenseman Chris Breen, right wing Brian Ferlin, and centers Alex Khokhlachev and Ben Sexton to Providence of the American Hockey League. The Bruins also placed defenseman Tommy Cross on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to Providence. - - Forward Cody Bass was re-assigned to Milwaukee by the Nashville Predators, who reduced their training camp roster to 24 players.
