Dec 23 (The Sports Xchange) - The Arizona Coyotes signed right winger Conor Garland to a three-year entry-level contract Wednesday. Garland, 19, currently leads the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in scoring with 80 points (21 goals, 59 assists) in 33 games. He has 22 points more than the next ranked player in the QMJHL. The 5-foot-8, 160-pound native of Scituate, Mass., has totaled 310 points (91 goals, 219 assists) in 204 career games with the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL. Garland was drafted by the Coyotes in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL draft. - - - The New York Rangers assigned goaltender Magnus Hellberg and defenseman Chris Summers to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. Hellberg, 24, appeared in one game with the Rangers after being recalled on Dec. 18, making his debut with the team on Dec. 20 against Washington. Summers, 27, played in three games with the Rangers after being recalled on Dec. 18. He registered five shots on goal, four hits and one blocked shot in those games. - - - The Detroit Red Wings reassigned defenseman Xavier Ouellet to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Ouellet, 22, has played in 25 career regular-season games with the Red Wings from 2013-15, with two goals, one assist and two penalty minutes. - - - The St. Louis Blues assigned forward Jordan Caron to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
