Lindberg, a 23-year-old rookie, beat Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky twice during the first six minutes of the first period. Left winger Dominic Moore and centers Derick Brassard and Derek Stepan also scored for the Rangers, who had a 5-0 lead early in the third period. Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 37 saves. - - Red Wings 4, Hurricanes 3 Detroit left winger Teemu Pulkkinen scored twice within a two-minute span in the third period as the Red Wings beat the Carolina Hurricanes. Goalie Petr Mrazek made 44 saves for the Red Wings. - - Capitals 5, Devils 3 Alex Ovechkin scored the go-ahead goal and added an assist while Braden Holtby made 22 saves as the Washington Capitals completed a 5-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils. Ovechkin fired a shot over goaltender Keith Kincaid to make it 3-2 with 13:27 remaining and helped make it 4-2 when he set up left wing Marcus Johansson's power play goal later in the period. - - Predators 2, Oilers 0 Nashville right wingers Craig Smith and Filip Forsberg scored to give the Predators a 2-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne stopped all 31 shots. - - Panthers 7, Flyers 1 The Florida Panthers scored an NHL-record four times in the first seven minutes as they blitzed the Philadelphia Flyers 7-1. Right wingers Jaromir Jagr and Reilly Smith both scored twice, while Vincent Trocheck, center Nick Bjugstad and Jussi Jokinen all scored in the first period. The four goals in 6:46 set a modern NHL record for the fastest four tallies to start a season. - - Canadiens 4, Bruins 2 Alex Galchenyuk set up three goals, two of them by left winger Lars Eller, to power the Montreal Canadiens to a 4-2 victory over the Boston Bruins. - - Senators 5, Maple Leafs 4 (SO) Mike Hoffman scored the decisive goal as the Ottawa Senators defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 in the shootout after being locked at 4-4 following overtime. Brown all scored for Tampa Bay as the Lightning completed a 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres. Goalie Ben Bishop made 24 saves for Tampa Bay, while Nicolas Deslauriers scored for the Sabres. - - Wild 3, Blues 2 Charlie Coyle scored twice as the Minnesota Wild beat the St. Louis Blues. Zach Parise added a power-play goal while goaltender Devan Dubnyk had 30 saves for the Wild, who broke a 1-1 tie in the second period with goals by Parisse and Coyle that were 21 seconds apart. - - Blackhawks 4, Islanders 1 Artemi Panarin and Patrick Kane each scored a goal and had two assists in the Chicago Blackhawks' 4-1 victory against the New York Islanders. - - Avalanche 6, Stars 3 Gabriel Landeskog had two goals and two assists as the Colorado Avalanche rallied with five successive goals to beat the Dallas Stars. Right winger Phil Kessel scored for the Penguins, 17 seconds after Rieder had opened the scoring at 5:00 in the second period. - - Flames 3, Canucks 2 (OT) Calgary left winger Johnny Gaudreau forced a turnover at the Vancouver Canucks' blue line and beat goaltender Ryan Miller at 3:03 of overtime to give the Flames a 3-2 win. - - Sharks 2, Ducks 0 Patrick Marleau scored both goals while goalie Martin Jones backstopped an excellent defensive effort as the San Jose Sharks beat the Anaheim Ducks 2-0.
