Dec 21 (The Sports Exchange) - Highlights of Saturday's National Hockey League games. - - Penguins 4, Flames 3 The Pittsburgh Penguins extended their winning streak to seven games when they opened a three-goal lead before hanging on for victory over the Calgary Flames. Center Sidney Crosby had a goal and two assists to lead the Penguins to their 10th consecutive home win, the longest home winning streak in the NHL this season. - - Coyotes 4, Senators 3 (overtime) Center Antoine Vermette completed his hat trick with 2:37 left in overtime to give the Phoenix Coyotes a road victory over the Ottawa Senators. The Coyotes stopped their losing streak at three games, while the Senators lost their third in a row. - - Kings 3, Avalanche 2 (shootout) Goaltender Martin Jones stopped 23 shots while tying an NHL record as the Los Angeles Kings beat the Colorado Avalanche in a shootout. Jones, who kept Colorado scoreless in the shootout, equaled an NHL record by winning his eighth straight game at the start of a season. - - Ducks 5, Islanders 3 The Anaheim Ducks rallied from a 3-1 deficit against the New York Islanders to set a franchise record with their eighth straight victory. Gudas scored his second goal of the season as the Lightning (22-11-3) won their fourth straight, while Carolina (14-14-8) lost its fifth of six. - - Bruins 4, Sabres 1 Boston continued its home-ice dominance as right winger Reilly Smith scored two goals against the Buffalo Sabres, and center David Krejci had a goal and an assist to lead the Bruins to their seventh straight home victory. - - Blue Jackets 6, Flyers 3 Two nights after an epic failure in Philadelphia, the Columbus Blue Jackets held on to beat the Flyers. Center Ryan Johansen scored his second goal of the game with seven minutes remaining in a much-needed win for the Blue Jackets, who blew a 3-0 lead against the Flyers on Thursday. - - Canadiens 4, Predators 3 (overtime) After blowing a three-goal first-period lead, the Montreal Canadiens recovered for an overtime road win over the Nashville Predators. Center David Desharnais stole the puck from defenseman Mattias Ekholm and rifled a slap shot over the left shoulder of backup goaltender Carter Hutton to give Montreal the decision. - - Red Wings 5, Maple Leafs 4 (shootout) Center Pavel Datsyuk scored the decisive goal in the shootout and also scored in regulation as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs. Centers Joakim Andersson and Tomas Tatar and right winger Tomas Jurco also scored for the Red Wings (17-12-9), who have won two in a row after a six-game losing streak. - - Blues 6, Oilers 0 Right winger Chris Stewart scored a hat trick as the St. Louis Blues extended Edmonton's losing streak to six games. The Oilers kept it close, trailing 2-0 through 40 minutes, before the Blues flexed their muscles in the third period, scoring four straight goals. - - Sharks 3, Stars 2 (shootout) Center Joe Thornton scored in the fifth round of the shootout to lift the San Jose Sharks to victory over the Dallas Stars.
