Week 11 of the NFL was a week of streaks and stretches as some players and teams increased their winning streaks while others saw their winless stretches grow. Marcus Mariota continued his impressive run while Jerick McKinnon was again unable to get his own running game going. The Dolphins and Giants improved their winning streaks and have not lost a game in over a month. Week 11 also saw more missed extra points than in any other week in the history of the NFL as the PAT rule change had its most significant impact.

Week 12 will see some streaks continue, while others come to an end and others begin. Can Mariota make it eight in-a-row? Who will lose first — the Dolphins or the Giants? Have the Vikings and Steelers begun winning stretches of their own? Were week 11’s missed extra points an exception or is it the beginning of a trend in the NFL?

With every week in the NFL comes surprises, while some of them are exhilarating and encouraging, others only lead to disappointment and despair. With any game or contest there will always be a winner and a loser, and is just as true this week in the NFL as it is the next.

NFL Week 11 winners and losers

Winners

Marcus Mariota

Despite being in just his second-year, Mariota has played like a veteran signal caller this year and put together one of the most impressive scoring stretches the NFL has ever seen. Following his week 11 performance, he now has thrown for at least two touchdown in seven straight games and has passed Warren Moon for the longest such streak in franchise history. Mariota has a good chance of making it eight in-a-row against a Bears’ team that has allowed quarterbacks to pass for multiple scores in three of their last four contests.

Five-Game Win Streaks

Both the Giants and the Dolphins joined the five-straight club after securing their fifth consecutive win in week 11. Both teams have good chances of increasing their streaks to six in-a-row this week as each find themselves in matchups with teams that have losing records and are among the worst in the league. After beating the Bears last week, the Giants will take on the winless Browns. While the Dolphins will continue their tour of the NFC West, after their victory over the Rams last week and face off with the 1-9, 49ers in week 12.

Dak Prescott

Prescott has had one impressive rookie campaign. He has had eight straight games with at least two scores and five straight with at least two passing touchdowns. During the stretch he has scored 20 touchdowns while throwing just two picks. Prescott has helped the Cowboys to a franchise record, nine straight wins and is just four behind Ben Roethlisberger, who set the rookie record back in 2004 with 13 consecutive wins.

Honorable Mentions

A week after being blanked in the box score, Tom Brady blew it up in week 11 with his four touchdown performance against the 49ers. He ended the day going 27 of 40 passing, for 280 yards and no interceptions, finishing with a 114.6 passer rating. The Minnesota Vikings’ defense and special teams came back to life against the Cardinals, returning both an interception and a kick more than 100 yards for the first-time in a game since the Cowboys did it in 1962. The week also saw Rob Kelly put together the best performance of his young career with 137 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 24 carries against the Packers.
