NFL Roundup: Steelers coach Tomlin fined $100,000
The NFL on Wednesday fined Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin $100,000 for interfering with a play in progress during last Thursday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Additionally, because the conduct affected a play on the field, the Steelers may also lose a 2014 draft choice.
The league also said in its statement that Tomlin should have been penalized 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The play occurred with 6:26 left in the third quarter of the game. After Pittsburgh scored to close to 13-7, Baltimore returner Jacoby Jones broke free down the sideline on the ensuing kickoff but slowed up with Tomlin on the white stripe near the field of play -- with his foot on the field at one point as Jones neared his location. Tomlin had his back to the play.
Tomlin released a statement Wednesday reiterating that he made a mistake that was not intentional.
---Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers practiced on a limited basis will need to practice fully by Friday to get cleared to play Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
Rodgers was able to participate in all the individual drills as he recovers from a broken left collarbone.
Tests on Rodgers' collarbone taken Tuesday did not show enough progress for him to be cleared to play. No further tests are scheduled. Still, he has not been ruled out yet.
Matt Flynn, who started last Thursday's 40-10 loss to the Detroit Lions, took first-team reps.
Rodgers was injured Nov. 4 against the Chicago Bears.
---Jacksonville Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said defensive end Jeremy Mincey's punishment for missing a team meeting will likely come to an end this week. Mincey will probably play Thursday night when the Jaguars host the Houston Texans.
Mincey, who missed a team meeting when he overslept on Nov. 23, has not played since Nov. 17. He has missed the last two games as punishment.
After Mincey missed a meeting the day before the Jaguars' game against the host Texans, Bradley chose to leave him behind when the team traveled to Houston later that day. He was fined and also missed last Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, though he did make the trip.
---The Buffalo Bills announced they have released running back Tashard Choice.
Choice has 126 yards on 35 rushes this year. He rushed for 471 on 3.4 yards per carry with two touchdowns in two-plus seasons with Buffalo. The sixth-year veteran also caught 27 passes and contributed on special teams since joining the Bills in November 2011.
Choice's role was mainly as a third-down back behind Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller.
Choice was a fourth-round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2008. He was picked up by Buffalo off waivers. For his career, Choice has 261 carries for 1,535 yards (4.3 yards per carry) with 10 touchdowns and 80 catches for 569 yards.
By releasing Choice, the Bills can give rookie Ronnie Wingo more opportunities. Wingo is a big back at 6-foot-3 and 231 pounds. Wingo, an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas, was promoted from the practice squad in late October. He was originally signed by the Atlanta Falcons in the spring.
---After drawing less than 39,000 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto last Sunday, Buffalo Bills CEO Russ Brandon said Wednesday he will "review" the future of the team's annual game there.
The Bills lost for the fifth time in six games in Toronto since 2008.
The Bills signed a new five-year agreement this year to continue the annual game, but Brandon hinted that the team may try to opt out after they drew just 38,969 in Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons. It marked the lowest-attended game in the six Buffalo has played in Toronto. The Rogers Centre holds 46,470.
"I'm going to look at everything," Brandon said. "I'll leave it at that."
The Bills play one game in Toronto annually to "regionalize" their brand.
---The NFL finalized the schedule for next year's International Series of games in London, which includes a nationally-televised game kicking off at a new time.
The Atlanta Falcons host the Detroit Lions on Oct. 26 at 9:30 a.m. ET, with the game televised on Fox.
The Oakland Raiders host the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. ET on CBS and the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. ET on Fox.
Each of the International Series games will be played at Wembley Stadium.
