NFL-National Football League roundup

Dec 6 (The Sports Xchange) - Indianapolis Colts fans could get Andrew Luck back on the field for the holidays. Colts owner Jim Irsay told NFL Network on Sunday that Luck, sidelined by a lacerated kidney and shoulder injury, would be ready to return during the regular season. Irsay said Luck might be ready to play Week 15, when the Colts are scheduled to face the Dolphins in Miami. Matt Hasselbeck, Luck's 40-year-old backup, is unbeaten (4-0) as a starter entering Week 13 at Pittsburgh on Sunday night. Coach Chuck Pagano said emphatically this week that Luck would start as soon as medically cleared, closing the door on the suggestion that the Colts might be better off with Hasselbeck. - - - Case Keenum will return to the starting spot for the St. Louis Rams next week. Head coach Jeff Fisher said Sunday that Nick Foles, who was 15 of 35 in a 27-3 loss to the Arizona Cardinals at home, would go back to the bench with Keenum ready to resume the No. 1 quarterback role. Keenum has been sidelined with a head injury but was cleared to resume football activities. He was active against the Cardinals on Sunday for the first time since a controversial concussion two weeks ago at Baltimore. Keenum's head was driven into the turf and he staggered to his feet, at one point collapsing under his own weight while on all fours. Fisher said he didn't see it and the head injury spotters on the scene did not stop the game. - - - Houston Texans starting right guard Brandon Brooks was inactive for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills after he was taken to the hospital with severe stomach pains. According to multiple reports, Brooks reported feeling sick to his stomach while at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Sunday morning and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance for further evaluation. Brooks missed a game against the Indianapolis Colts last season with stomach ulcers. - - - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Atlanta Falcons despite playing without three key defensive linemen, including Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, who was inactive with a hand injury. The Bucs also were without defensive end Jacquies Smith -- second on the team in sacks behind McCoy -- as well as defensive end George Johnson, a starter at the opening of the season. - - - The Falcons reached an injury settlement with offensive tackle Lamar Holmes. Holmes suffered a foot injury in minicamp and was on the reserve/physically unable to perform list before being waived. He was selected by the Falcons in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He appeared in 21 games for the Falcons with 19 starts. (Editing by Andrew Both)
