NBA roundup: Haywood did not make Hall of Fame after all

Spencer Haywood was told last week he had made it into the basketball Hall of Fame, and several media outlets reported Haywood had made it.

However, Haywood was later told he had been misinformed and that he did not make the cut for inclusion in the Hall of Fame.

The official announcement of those who made it to the Hall of Fame will be made Monday in Atlanta, but apparently Haywood will not be among them

He was upset about the misunderstanding.

"I don't know why there was confusion," Haywood told the Las Vegas Review Journal. "Someone from the NBA told me I was in, then I found out Friday night that I wasn't in.

"This is so embarrassing. My stomach has been so bad I can't eat, I can't sleep. This isn't a punch in the stomach. It's below the stomach."

---The Golden State Warriors signed guard Scott Machado to a 10-day contract.

Machado, 22, was acquired by the Santa Cruz Warriors - Golden State's Development League affiliate - from Rio Grande Valley on March 8.

---With the clock ticking down in the NBA regular season, Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose remains noncommittal about his return.

Before the Bulls' shootaround Sunday prior to their game against Detroit, Rose continued to say he's not sure when he'll play again. But he isn't ruling out playing yet this year.
