Dec 29 (The Sports Xchange) - The Chicago Bulls waived guard R.J. Hunter on Thursday, two weeks before his contract became fully guaranteed. The Bulls signed Hunter to a non-guaranteed salary on Oct. 27 after he was waived by the Boston Celtics. The 23-year-old's deal would have become fully guaranteed if Hunter was still on the team through Jan. 9. Hunter, who was the 28th overall pick in the 2015 draft by the Celtics, appeared in 36 games with the club. - - - The Golden State Warriors assigned rookie center Damian Jones and rookie guard Patrick McCaw to the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA Development League, the team announced. Jones played in one game for the Warriors this season, going scoreless in nine minutes. This is the first career D-League assignment for McCaw, who is averaging 2.8 points, 1.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 12.2 minutes in 26 games with Golden State this season. - - - The Atlanta Hawks assigned forward Taurean Prince to the Long Island Nets of the NBA Development League, pursuant to the flexible assignment rule, the team announced.
