Dec 11 (The Sports Xchange) - John "Hot Rod" Williams, a popular sixth man with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 1986 to 1995, died on Friday. He was 53. Williams died in a Baton Rouge, La., hospital from complications related to prostate cancer, his agent, Mark Bartelstein, said. The 6-foot-11 power forward played 13 seasons in the NBA and was best known for being a standout with the Cavaliers. - - - Guard Klay Thompson missed Golden State's game against the Boston Celtics on Friday because of an ankle injury. The Warriors went into the contest with a 23-0 record. The All-Star shooting guard said Thursday his ankle was "70 percent". The Warriors are already without Harrison Barnes and Andre Iguodala. - - - Sacramento Kings guard Rajon Rondo was suspended for one game without pay for a derogatory and offensive term directed at a referee and for his failure to exit the court in a timely manner last week.
