Matt Moore will get the Miami Dolphins to the playoffs

Matt Moore — also known as the “gunslinger” by many of his Miami Dolphins teammates — has the chance to catapult the Dolphins into the playoffs for the first time since 2008. That season, they outlasted the Patriots to win the division title.

The Miami Dolphins take on the Buffalo Bills in just a couple hours and my prediction is that the Dolphins will get in on Sunday after the Chiefs defeat the struggling Broncos. Matt Moore won AFC Player of the Week after his performance against the New York Jets last Saturday night where he threw for four touchdowns against a Jets secondary that hasn’t lived up to the preseason hype.

Moore has been a backup on the Dolphins for many years and he has the respect of all of his teammates. They believe in him and feel he has the tools to get this Miami team into the playoffs, something which would be an unbelievable accomplishment considering injuries to key players like Mike Pouncey, Reshad Jones, and Ryan Tannehill. Even offensive coordinator Clyde Christenson has expressed his confidence in the backup quarterback.

“He’s always reminded me of Matt Hasselbeck, from the day I walked in this building,” said Christensen. “He could start for a bunch of teams.”

Clyde Christensen isn’t the only man who is standing behind Matt Moore. Multiple Dolphin players know what he is capable of.

“We have extreme confidence in him,” wide receiver Jarvis Landry said earlier this week about Moore. “The thing about Matt is he’s a pro. Since I’ve been here for the last three years, he’s trained, he’s practiced, like he was the starting quarterback. For us, it’s another opportunity for another guy to step up.”

I wrote an article awhile ago when the Dolphins were 3-4 that there was a chance the team could make a playoff push later in the year. Well, it is December and the games are meaningful. The talks about draft picks can wait until after the season ends because Miami is right in the thick of the playoff hunt.

My bold prediction is that Matt Moore goes into Buffalo and has himself a great game leading the Dolphins to a 24-13 victory.
