Marshawn Lynch: Will he ever return?

After playing a total of nine seasons, six of which were spent with the Seattle Seahawks, Marshawn Lynch announced his retirement during Super Bowl 50. He did it as only Marshawn Lynch could.

Looking back at his career, it is evident that Lynch was a huge part of the Seahawks’ success and his leaving will have an equally big impact.

Last season the Seahawks needed somebody to step up with Lynch ailing, and Thomas Rawls proved up to the challenge. Christine Michael came through too later on. Losing Lynch may not mean the end of a great running game after all. To help, Seattle used three NFL draft picks on running backs this year: third-round pick CJ Prosise, fifth-round pick Alex Collins, and seventh-round pick Zac Brooks.

Marshawn Lynch was one of a kind though and he will be missed no matter how the team does in 2016. Would he ever consider coming back?

Recently Richard Sherman brought up a point that could bring some hope to melancholy Seahawks fans: Sherman isn’t sure that Marshawn is done with football yet.

Richard Sherman on Marshawn Lynch:

“I don’t put anything past him,” Sherman said. “He’s about as predictable as a pair of dice. So I don’t try to call his plays.”

Lynch was unable to play to his normal standards last season, which might give him motivation to return when he’s at the top of his game. Beast Mode may still be hungry for another ring.

Marshawn Lynch shook the NFL with his decision, as his strength and determination as a RB has been admired by many players and coaches.

Although the Seahawks have taken the appropriate preparations for life without Lynch, many fans are hoping that Sherman’s comments are true. With his unpredictable nature, Lynch could very well reverse his decision and come back to help Seattle after taking a year off to rest his body.

Maybe it’s a long shot. Only time will tell what Beast Mode will do and only he knows for sure.
