Marreese Speights scores 23, Warriors dismantle 76ers

The Golden State Warriors put together a very efficient performance, turning it over on only 14 possessions while totaling 38 assists, to pummel the Philadelphia 76ers, 126-86. This is the seventh win for Golden State (25-5) in its last 10 games.

Marreese Speights put up 23 points on 9-13 shooting from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line, in a solid outing. He recorded four assists also. Other top performers for Golden State were Stephen Curry with 13 points and nine assists, and Draymond Green with 10 points and 10 rebounds. On 9-13 shooting, Henry Sims scored 19 points for Philadelphia in the loss. He also tallied seven rebounds. Malcolm Thomas added 10 points and eight rebounds and Robert Covington finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.

As expected, the 76ers offense did not have its best game, struggling to score against the elite Warriors defense that ranks first in the league with a defensive efficiency of 96.8. They registered just .832 points per possession in this game, and rank 30th in the NBA with an offensive efficiency of 90.4 on the season. The Warriors combined an eFG% of 63.4% with 42.9% 3-point shooting. They are 8-1 this year when registering marks above 55% and 40% in those respective statistics. The 76ers, on the other hand, are winless (0-6) when allowing opponents to hit those marks.

Philadelphia (4-26) has now lost three straight contests.

Coming up next, the Warriors take on the Toronto Raptors, who are 24-8 on the year. The 76ers go up against the Phoenix Suns, currently 18-15 this season. The 76ers are 0-1 versus Phoenix this season.
