Mariners' Wedge to return Friday

Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge, who has been away from the team since suffering a minor stroke on July 22, will be back in uniform and in the dugout for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels, the Seattle Times reported.

It's unclear when Wedge will resume all his duties as manager, but interim manager Robby Thompson confirmed Wedge will be back with the team on Friday.

"We've talked and he will be back," Thompson said, according to the Seattle Times story. "In what capacity, or easing into it, we'll talk [Tuesday] and then I'll probably see him maybe on the off-day and then we'll get a game plan together. But he will be back in uniform on Friday."

The Mariners were 11-14 without Wedge heading into Monday's game against the Oakland A's. They began play Monday with a 57-66 record for the year.
