Lions cutting Nate Burleson

The Detroit Lions are releasing veteran wide receiver Nate Burleson, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Burleson, 32, caught 39 passes for 461 yards and one touchdown last season as he was limited to nine games and eight starts last season due to injuries.

By releasing him, the Lions are creating $5.5 million against the salary cap.

“It’s a hard decision for them to make, but I can’t blame them for making it,” Burleson told the Free Press.

For his career, Burleson has caught 457 passes for 5,630 yards and 39 touchdowns.
