LEGO Rio is a triumph of hard work, imagination and LEGOs
We all show our Olympic fandom in different ways. Some cheer from the couch, some paint their faces and some spend a full year creating a scale model of Rio and its environs out of 953,000 LEGO bricks.
LEGO master builder Paul Chrzan created the superstructure with the help of LEGO itself and the Danish government, which intends to present the monstrous 16-by-20-foot structure to the city of Rio as a gift. The layout features distinctive landmarks, stadiums, hillsides and buildings, rendered in 10 different scales:

As the video from The Wall Street Journal notes, the entire work took 2,500 hours to complete and featured the efforts of 50 people from three different countries. We’re suitably impressed, yes, but we still don’t think it’s the greatest LEGO-related achievement of these Olympics:
