Leaving lunch:Senior figures bid farewell to Guardiola

The players had already taken leave of Pep Guardiola at the weekend, and on Wednesday it was the turn of senior management figures at the club to bid the outgoing Bayern coach a heartfelt 'Servus'. At a leaving lunch at Munich’s Restaurant Käfer, chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, FCB president Karl Hopfner, Uli Hoeneß and Jörg Wacker said farewell to the Catalan and his coaching staff comprising Domenec Torrent, Lorenzo Buenaventura, Carles Planchart and Manel Estiarte.

“Once again I want to express my deepest thanks for our magnificent time together and wish Pep and his team all the very best indeed,” Rummenigge said in the restaurant’s Bavarian lounge, where the trophies collected in the Guardiola era were on display: three championship shields, two DFB Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Cub World Cup.

The Catalan spent the morning saying goodbye to the club’s headquarters staff. Guardiola and his team will take charge of Manchester City next season.
