Lane Kiffin's new Florida Atlantic promo video is very sad

We’re beginning to worry about Lane Kiffin.

It’s been about a month since his unceremonious exit from Alabama and the new Florida Atlantic head coach is fast approaching his first signing day as a head coach since his USC days. His multi-tasking as Alabama offensive coordinator and FAU head coach obviously did not go well, and based on this recent FAU promo video, Kiffin seems a bit, uh, worn out? Maybe?

You’ll see what we mean:

C’mon, Lane! You’re trying to get folks excited for a rebuilding program and you look like a guy who just lost his puppy or something.

Does this look like a guy describing an “exciting time?”

Lane Kiffin’s enthusiasm for FAU football just jumps out at you.

Though to be fair, the poor guy looks like he’s staring directly into the sun. We’ll chalk it up to poor planning.

Kiffin has ruffled some feathers since his hire, especially with the handling of a committed player — Orlando-area safety D.J. Charles — who was told his scholarship offer (which came from the previous coaching staff) was rescinded. But it’s not all bad. Kiffin has landed quite a few commitments in the last month, and some Florida high school coaches came to his defense after the public parting of ways with Charles (who has since pledged to Campbell University).

We’ll have to check in with Kiffin during Wednesday’s signing day to see if his energy level rises.

Until then, go Owls — “Football in Pardise.”
