Lafayette 80, Colgate 67

Lafayette won its fourth straight game with an 80-67 Patriot League victory over Colgate Wednesday night at Cotterell Court.

The Leopards improved to 16-14 and 9-4 in the league, while Colgate fell to 11-19 and 5-8.

Lafayette was led by Tony Johnson, who scored a team-high 17, while Seth Hinrichs followed with 15 and Dan Trist scored 14. As a team, Lafayette shot 51 percent and made 11 of 20 three-pointers.

Colgate's Murphy Burnatowski led all scorers with 18 points on 9 of 16 shooting, including 5 of 8 from three-point range. Luke Roh added 13 for the Raiders.

With less than five minutes to play, Colgate got within to three, 66-63, but Lafayette finished on a 14-4 run to seal the victory.

Lafayette got off to an 8-0 lead, and Colgate battled back. The Raiders' only lead came with 8:02 left in the first half, when Burnatowski nailed a three-pointer that gave Colgate a 26-23 edge.

From there, Lafayette went on a 12-3 tear over the next five minutes to regain control of the game.
