Joanna Jędrzejczyk Earns Strawweight Title Shot with UFC on Fox 13 Win

The Ultimate Fighting Championship crowned their first women’s strawweight champion on Friday in Las Vegas at The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale. Carla Esparza made history when she submitted Rose Namajunas by rear-naked choke and became the inaugural women’s 115-pound titleholder. Less than 24 hours later, she has her next opponent.

Undefeated Joanna Jędrzejczyk earned a title fight on Saturday with her split decision win over Claudia Gadelha, according to UFC president Dana White.

“She absolutely is (next in line),” said White during the UFC on Fox 13 Post Show. “I’m a huge fan of hers. I love her striking. I love the way she fights.”

The Polish striker showed incredible takedown defense in her fight with Gadelha. She officially made her promotional debut in July, soundly defeating Juliana Lima. Her third fight inside the famed octagon will be for the belt.

Following her win, Jędrzejczyk took a seat next to White and watched the remainder of the event.

“We hung out and watched the show tonight. Yeah, she’s probably going to get the next shot,” he said during the event's post-fight press conference.
