Jets' Hill day-to-day with knee injury

New York Jets wide receiver Stephen Hill, who has been slowed by hamstring and knee injuries this season, must overcome another knee ailment.

Hill underwent an MRI exam Monday that revealed a strained lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. The team lists his status as day-to-day, and ESPN.com reported that he won't need surgery.

The injury occurred when Hill slipped while trying to make a catch in the second quarter of the Jets' 17-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

In 11 games (eight starts) this season, Hill has 21 catches for 252 yards and three touchdowns. The rookie out of Georgia Tech was a second-round draft pick last spring.

The Jets also announced that linebacker Bryan Thomas is day-to-day due to a strained pectoral muscle.

Both players will have an extra day to heal, as the Jets play Monday night at the Tennessee Titans.
