Jets deactivate Tebow for Sunday's game

Backup quarterback Tim Tebow was placed on the inactive list by the New York Jets for Sunday's game against Arizona.

Tebow suffered a rib injury several weeks ago and did not play during the Jets' Thanksgiving night beatdown by New England. Coach Rex Ryan hadn't confirmed this week whether Tebow would be sidelined for Sunday's game.

In Tebow's place, the Jets activated Greg McElroy for the first time in his two-year NFL career. He backed up starter Mark Sanchez.
