He was a Pro Bowler during the 2012 season with the Saints but ended up leaving the team through free agency. Following a couple of seasons with the the NFC’s Bears, Jermon Bushrod was a two-time Pro Bowl left tackle. Aging and in need of a new home, Bushrod chose to sign with the Miami Dolphins during the most recent offseason.

Despite being a Pro Bowl tackle, Bushrod has found a niche playing at right guard for the Dolphins, a position that he has played well at ever since the start of the season. He has started every game and played every snap on offense except for two in the October game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It was Albert’s ubiquity in the lineup that forced Bushrod to line up at guard, something he understood from the time he signed with the Miami Dolphins. It was a big transition no doubt for Bushrod, but one that he’s successfully made since it’s led to him playing for a winning team.

No stranger to the Dolphins current coach, Bushrod played under Gase last season in Chicago when Gase was the Bears’ offensive coordinator and the two have grown enough of a rapport that a reconciliation in Miami made sense for both sides.

On March 10, 2016, Bushrod signed with the Miami Dolphins and serves as their starting right guard. Now Bushrod isn’t flawless, but he definitely has been a serviceable acquisition. Before the 2016 season started he was contemplating retirement until Adam Gase induced him to come back and play for him.

Adam Gase isn’t just showing he can coach, but he’s also showing that he’s a player’s coach as much as he is as good at bringing down the hammer if you don’t do your job. So far Bushrod has played a very intricate role and he’s shown he still has more in the tank.
