Jags owner: No plans for new Jones-Drew deal

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Kahn said Wednesday the team does not plan to give running back Maurice Jones-Drew a new contract.

Jones-Drew, who was the NFL's leading rusher last season, has threatened to hold out when training camp opens Thursday unless he receives a new contract.

"There's no decision here," Khan told the Florida Times-Union. "It's his choice. There's been very little for us to do rather than wait on whatever he might choose to do."

Jones-Drew is entering the fourth year of a five-year, $31 million contract he signed in 2008. He is scheduled to make $9.4 this season and next.

"There's more than 50 players under contract," said Kahn, who purchased the Jaguars last year. "There are other people under contract in management, coaches. Does that mean if you do it for one, you do it for everybody? Where do you draw the line?"

The UCLA product has yet to participant in the Jaguars' off-season training activities. He could face a $30,000 a day if he holds out of training camp.
