Jadeveon Clowney sees himself as No. 1 pick

South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney entered the 2013 season as the top overall prospect of eligible draft picks.

With the Houston Texans seemingly in need of a quarterback, Clowney may not be able to go No. 1 overall like as initially predicted. But it's something Clowney is still hoping he can achieve, especially with a strong performance at the NFL combine in the next couple of weeks.

“I worked hard to get to this point in my life where I gave myself a great chance to go No. 1 in the draft and hopefully I will get to be No. 1," Clowney said on ESPN Radio. "I’m going to try to prove myself at the Combine and hopefully just go up from there.”

The Texans selecting a top defender over a top offensive player wouldn't be out of the norm. In the 2006 NFL draft, the Texans passed on Reggie Bush to select defensive end Mario Williams.
