Jacare Souza to Face Francis Carmont at February UFC Card in Brazil

Jacare Souza Ready for UFC Return, Wants Title Shot or Vitor Belfort

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will face Francis Carmount in the UFC's return to Brazil on Feb. 15, UFC officials announced on Tuesday.

Souza and Carmont will co-headline the card on Fox Sports 1, which takes place at the Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Jacare burst into the UFC with consecutive finishes, the first over Chris Camozzi at UFC on FX 8 last May, the following over Yushin Okami at UFC Fight Night 28 in September. The former Strikeforce middleweight champion has won five in a row since losing the 185-pound belt to fellow Strikeforce import Luke Rockhold.

Carmont is undefeated in the UFC, winning all six of his Octagon appearances, the latest being a unanimous decision over Costa Philippou. Additionally, the Tristar teammate of Georges St-Pierre hasn't experienced a professional loss since 2008, winning 11 fights in a row during that time.

The UFC Fight Night card will be headlined by a middleweight match-up between former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida against Gegard Mousasi.

The upcoming card was originally scheduled to take place on Feb. 8, but was moved to Feb. 15, according to UFC officials. No details were given as to why the date for the card changed.
