Indians place Hafner on paternity leave

Designated hitter Travis Hafner was placed on paternity leave by the Indians, who recalled utilityman Vinny Rottino from Class AAA Columbus.

Hafner, who is hitting .230 with 10 home runs and 29 RBI in 59 games, must remain on the Paternity List for one to three days.

Rottino, 32, was claimed on outright waivers from the Mets on June 27, and hit .299 with nine doubles, four home runs and 32 RBI in 30 games with Columbus. He appeared in 14 games in the outfield, eight at first base and one game at catcher, providing the Indians with some versatility.
