Indians' Carrasco loses spot after bad outing

The Cleveland Indians designated right-hander Carlos Carrasco for assignment and selected the contract of right-handed releiver Preston Guilmet from Triple-A in roster moves announced Sunday.

The Indians also transferred catcher Lou Marson to the 60-day disabled list.

Carrasco was the starting and losing pitcher on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers, giving up seven runs (six earned) in 3 1/3 innings. Carrasco, who is 0-4 with a 9.10 ERA with the Indians, must pass through optional waivers before he can be returned to Triple-A Columbus.

Guilmet has a 2.32 ERA and 16 saves in 42 2/3 innings and 34 appearances with Columbus this season. The 25-year-old has yet to pitch in the major leagues.

Marson has played in only three games for the Indians this season because of right shoulder inflammation.
