Indians call up Phelps; Swisher to paternity list

The Cleveland Indians recalled infielder Cord Phelps from Triple-A Columbus and placed infielder-designated hitter Nick Swisher on the paternity list before Tuesday night's game against the Detroit Tigers, the team announced.

Swisher's wife, JoAnna, gave birth to the couple's first child on Tuesday. Swisher will remaiin on the paternity list for one to three days.

Phelps is hitting .233 with five home runs and 19 RBI in 30 games for Columbus. It's his second call-up to the Indians. He played in three games from April 16 to April 18 and went 0 for 8 at the plate.
