Indiana suspends three players for one game

Starting wide receiver Kofi Hughes was one of three Indiana football players suspended for one game this season, and another player was dismissed, head coach Kevin Wilson announced Thursday.

Hughes, cornerback Lawrence Barnett and safety Forisse Hardin were all suspended a game for an unspecified violation of team rules. Hughes started 10 games last season and caught 35 passes for 536 yards and three touchdowns. Barnett started nine games in 2011 and had 46 tackles. Hardin started two games as a true freshman last season.

Indiana opens its season against Indiana State, an FBS school (formerly Division I-AA).

Also, safety Shaquille Jefferson and wide receiver Logan Young left the Indiana program to pursue other opportunities, according to the school, and wide receiver Jay McCants was dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules. McCants caught six passes for 54 yards in 2011 as a true freshman.
