Holy Cross 62, Navy 47

Holy Cross led most of the way and defeated Navy 62-47 Wednesday in a Patriot League matchup in Annapolis, Md.

The Midshipmen (6-12, 0-2 Patriot League) were led by Worth Smith's 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting, and they cut the lead to 49-42 with 8:02 remaining, but could get no closer.

The Crusaders (9-8, 1-1 Patriot League) were led by double-doubles from both Malcolm Miller and Dave Dudzinski. Miller scored 13 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, while Dudzinski had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Phil Beans added eight points for the Crusaders.

While both teams cooled off in the second half, they each shot the ball well in the first 20 minutes, with the Crusaders opening the game making their first six shots while shooting 58 percent (11-of-19) in the first half. Navy also shot the ball well, making 50 percent (11-of-22).

Smith led the Midshipmen with seven points in the first half, while Tilman Dunbar added five points and five assists on his way to 12 points.

The game was tied at 9-9 early before the Crusaders scored nine of the next 12 points to take a 17-12 lead. The Crusaders took a 31-27 lead at halftime and were able to extend the lead to 15 points to pull away.
