Dodgers' Greinke will be sidelined 2-3 days
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke was scratched from his scheduled start on Monday because of a sore right elbow, but after he was examined by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, it was determined the injury is not serious, Hardball.com reported.
Greinke was diagnosed with inflammation in the back of his elbow, and is expected to resume throwing after 2-3 days of rest.
He was injected with platelet-rich plasma and anti-inflammatory medication .
He should be ready for the start of the regular season.
Greinke was signed to a six-year, $147 million contract during the offseason.
The Dodgers have starter depth. Clayton Kershaw, Josh Beckett, Chad Billingsley and Hyun-jin Ryu are in the rotation and Chris Capuano, Aaron Harang and Ted Lilly are among those who could fill in for Greinke.
