The Green Bay Packers can now look forward to four more draft picks in the 2018 NFL Draft.

In 2017, the Packers were rewarded with just one compensatory pick, eventually using it on running back, Aaron Jones.

Fast forward to the draft to take place in 2018, according to Over the Cap’s chart of compensatory picks, Green Bay is expected to receive four.

While this is, indeed, good news for a team that relies so heavily on the draft to fill roster needs, it is the result of some bad news.

The reason for these four picks comes after losing T.J. Lang, Jared Cook, Eddie Lacy and J.C. Tretter via free agency.

247Sports.com reports, that these are the rounds they will be awarded the picks based on the free agency losses: T.J. Lang – Round 3 – $9,500,000, J.C. Tretter – Round 5 – $5,583,333, Jared Cook – Round 6 – $5,000,000, and Eddie Lacy – Round 6 – $3,865,000.

The free agent loss of defensive end, Datone Jones, will not count for a 6th round pick, due to the max of four compensatory picks already being rewarded.

These are some key losses, however, especially losing Lang to the division foe, Detriot Lions.

Green Bay has had one of the best offensive lines in the league the past few years. That is not a guarantee to repeat now.

The only move the Packers made up for was replacing tight end Jared Cook with the free agent signing of Martellus Bennett.

The Green Bay Packers have a history of adding compensatory picks, since 1994 they have the second-most among all teams. Only Baltimore with 48 tops Green Bay at 28.
