Gonzaga No. 1 for second straight week

For the second straight week, Gonzaga is No. 1 in both major polls, which were released Monday.

Gonzaga (30-2) received 54 of 65 first place votes in the Associated Press media poll and 29 of 31 top votes in the USA Today coaches poll.

The Bulldogs beat Loyola Marymount by 18 points, their only game last week.

No. 2 Duke (27-4) got the remaining first place votes in both polls. The Blue Devils moved up a spot in the AP poll after defeating Virginia Tech and North Carolina last week.

Both polls have the same teams in the top 10 and the top five is identical with Indiana, Louisville and Georgetown occupying the third through fifth spots.

Indiana fell from second after losing to Ohio State but edging out Michigan to win the regular-season Big Ten title.

Louisville leaped from eighth to No. 4 in the AP poll.

Michigan, Kansas, Michigan State, Miami and Ohio State made up the rest of the AP top 10.

In the USA Today poll, No. 6 Kansas was followed by Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State and Miami.

Missouri Valley Conference champion Creighton entered the AP poll at No. 23, while Oregon dropped out from 19th last week.

In the coaches poll, No. 24 Creighton and No. 25 UCLA replaced Notre Dame and Oregon, which held those spots last week.
