2011: Jim Furyk became the fourth player in Presidents Cup history to post a 5-0 record and led the United States to its fourth consecutive victory, 19-15 at Royal Melbourne, where the International team claimed its only victory in 1998. The Americans are 4-0-1 since that defeat and lead the series 7-1-1. The other players who recorded 5-0 records in the competition were Mark O'Meara in 1996, Shigeki Maruyama in 1998 and Tiger Woods in 2009. The U.S. led almost from the start this time at Royal Melbourne, taking a 4-2 lead in the opening-day foursomes matches. When the Internationals rallied in Sunday singles, which were halved, 6-6, Furyk, David Toms, Woods and Steve Stricker captured the last four matches to give captain Fred Couples his second victory, having led the U.S. in 2009 at Harding Park in San Francisco. Woods provided the winning points by beating Aaron Baddeley of Australia, 4 and 3. Hunter Mahan posted a 4-1 record for the Americans, while Toms and Phil Mickelson were 3-1. Geoff Ogilvy of Australia and Charl Schwartzel of South Africa were 3-1-1 for captain Greg Norman's International team.
