Goff or Keenum: Why Can’t the Rams Get This Right?
Jared Goff is getting closer. How close? Well, closer. If you ask Jeff Fisher. It’s about progress and when he’s ready, he’ll play. Ugh. The Rams draft Goff number #1 overall, and what part have they gotten right?
Not playing him is what they’ve gotten right.
The very loud critics who want Goff over Keenum will get their wish sooner rather than later. But with all the problems with this team, Goff playing still doesn’t make them better, doesn’t get them to .500 or better, and certainly doesn’t get them into the playoffs. In fact, Fisher worked hard to knock down reports that progress is slow. Which given that he’s not starting, is probably an accurate assessment.

Now it’s about tea leaves and whose reading those leaves. From now until he steps on the field for live game action, every comment, every word will be parsed to assess how close Jared is or isn’t.
Fisher said he liked what he saw from 16 today. And Goff said he feels he’s ready for whenever his number’s called. More in #PracticeReport.

FYI: There were a few throws that #Rams QB Jared Goff made today that drew ohhs and ahhs. He was flinging it

Most frustrating is that if Case Keenum could stop throwing interceptions 1. the Rams might be better than 3-4, and 2. the need to rush Jared Goff to the field would be considerably less.
As much as I want to give Fisher the benefit of the doubt, he’s been terrible with the messaging. He’s also been bad at rolling this out, and over time, it may be decided that he was bad with this pick. Most unfortunate, is it fits nice and tidy into a narrative that speaks volumes to the rampant ineptitude in St. Louis and now in Los Angeles.
Either Jared Goff stinks or Case Keenum has pictures.

On Sunday, after Keenum tossed an interception that wasn’t on him, I saw a tweet that called this team and Keenum, “snake bit”.
Maybe a little.
The Rams have a habit of making one bad decision after another. Rushing Jared Goff would only be another.
Which means we’ll see him before we probably should.
