Giants Sandoval will rest injured elbow

San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval will rest the next few days while he receives treatment for an elbow injury, but he is still scheduled to be ready for Opening Day, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Sandoval has had soreness and tingling in his right elbow, and manager Bruce Bochy told the Chronicle that the injury was diagnosed as ulnar neuritis. That is an inflammation of a nerve in the elbow.

There has been no indication of any bone chips in the elbow, however.

Sandoval was scratched from Sunday's lineup, and will sit out the next few days.

He will be re-evaluated later in the week.
